Many young individuals discontinue their education because of poverty or the displacement of their families due to local conflicts. By providing the opportunity for education for young girls and boys Spe Salvi can help them find their lost hope and confidence, give them something meaningful to do as they work out a career and future for themselves and the nation that will reduce the injustice, hopelessness and poverty in the system.
Spe Salvi education initiative is aimed at reducing human trafficking and exploitation and providing the necessary educated workforce that will continue to sustain the mission of the diocese and of Spe Salvi in the nation and the world. Our education strategy is modelled on apprenticeship programs that will provide our students opportunities to earn while working.
We therefore support tertiary education for young girls and boys in the program through partnerships with local universities and vocational and training centres. We also provide workshops and resources to help them develop practical life skills for employment and social life, such as goal setting, decision-making, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and self-care.
We hope we will raise enough funds one day to establish a tertiary education institution in the diocese, with programs specially tailored to provide Catholic Christian formation, mentorship and discipleship.
